Who called my name?

Hello everyone – my name is Vinay and I want to share something that happened with me a couple of years back. It was New Year’s eve of 2010. I had read somewhere that when you light up a candle on New Year’s eve, blow it exactly at the stroke of midnight and burn your old shoes, the coming year brings good luck to you. I decided to try this along with my paying guest (kiraaedar) Ravi (name changed).

It was past midnight, and we had just finished blowing the candle, burning our old shoes and praying lady luck to adopt us in the coming year. We were playing carrom in his balcony to pass our time. Suddenly, I heard somebody calling my name – a soft whisper, the source of which could not be identified. I stopped playing and asked Ravi if he had heard the voice too? He said yes – I think somebody is calling you – most probably your mom or sister. However, I was sure it wasn’t either of them – it was a very soft voice, and it had some kind of flange to it. My friend felt as if it came from a tree that’s located right next to our building.

We went downstairs to check into my home. However, all my folks had gone to sleep. It was quite puzzling – not fearsome, but yes – quite bizarre!

Any thoughts on this?

IHT saysDear Vinay, we can assure you that you are not alone. There have been many cases wherein people have felt unprecedented voices calling them. In some cases, it was either a prank or a hallucination. However, we would recommend you not to go out looking for the source. The world’s getting a bit insecure you know – so stay safe! :)
